SLOG Post 3 - Big-Oh

As I predicted on my last post, proofs were going to be the hardest part of this course. However, I have come to understand the majority of it thanks to enough practice and the assignments. Certainly it is something I need to keep working on. This week they introduced to us the Big-Oh, something that was briefly mentioned in my 148 class and left me intrigued. I've always been interested on how computing is done and how machines work with our "input". The introduction was brief and I look forward to learning more about the topic.

SLOG Post 2 - October 15

Wow, what a month. I'm really surprised on how time flies when you are in University. So far the course work has been intense. I have faced questions on this courses where you really need to step out and think about that question for a while. I found that this is the best way to approach hard logical questions and start working early is required for this to work without fault. It has really taught me to now leave assignments to the end as they do require a lot of thinking and time. These weeks so far we have finished logic and started with proofs, a topic that I fear. I say fear because it is really hard for me to work on a complex proof for something that looks too obvious and would only require a couple of words to describe. I understand the reason and I know that this topic is important and I will dedicate more of my time to this topic. I found the tutorials so far fairly straight forward but the assignment was where the challenge laid. Sadly, I did not start the assignment on time (totally my fault, lost track of time but I learned my lesson for future assignments) and it did not give me time to check all my answers so I had to submit what I had. But overall I think I would have to spend a lot of extra time studying proofs.
